When designing your kitchen, or any room in your home, it’s important to consider the functions of that space. We’ve put together our top five tips that will help you create a beautiful and functional kitchen that you will absolutely love.
1. Waste Disposal – Hafele, Blum, Kimberley Bins and Hettich are the leading brands for waste disposal in kitchens, and now more than ever with recycling, composting you can easily sort your waste without having bags, boxes in all different places. So depending on your councils waste management, opt for a 4 or 5 compartment pull out bin, and why not while you’re there, add a drawer above it for newspapers etc so they don’t clog up your recycling compartment.
3. Hide your microwave! Will it fit in your pantry, scullery or above your wall ovens? We suggest hiding it behind a concealed door. Gone are the days where it’s installed below the bench because there is nowhere else to put it.
4. Appliance cupboard. If there isn’t enough room for a walk-in scullery/pantry, then a “Micro Pantry is a must, but let’s make it look gorgeous! Having your appliance cupboard behind full-height doors creates so much more extra room for storage AND you might have room for your microwave as well. Don’t forget to put in 2 sets of double power points!
5. Super Silent Rangehoods – Yes they exist! Check out Qasair or Schweigen, the super powerful motor sits in the roof space, extraction is out of this world good (3 times better than a standard rangehood) and it won’t sound like a jet engine is on in the kitchen. Worth the investment and both are Australian-owned and made.
